BCS Standings

I’d be remiss if I didn’t comment on the final tally of the BCS. With all the hoopla every year, this year included, people are always saying the BCS doesn’t work. I happen to disagree and agree at the same time. The BCS didn’t fail this year, like every other year it was the failings of the human voters. Nearly all of them agree that the reason they didn’t put Michigan at #2 is because they said Michigan had their shot, not because Florida was better. They intentionally ranked the second best team as third because they didn’t want to see a rematch. That’s voter fraud and they should have their voting rights taken from them.

I can actually see an argument for Florida being in the game. I’m a rational person and think they came on strong late and earned a consideration. I just don’t want to hear some lame justification based on your need to see a different team play rather than see the two best teams play. Come January when Florida gets waxed and Michigan rolls over the extremely over-rated USC team and Wisconsin takes care of Arkansas and Notre Dame makes LSU wish they were in the Rose Bowl, then we’ll see some respect for the Midwest and the Big Ten.

This might be the only time in my life you’ll hear this but, GO BUCKS!!

Bad Mood

Sorry, I’m in a bad mood this morning. I should be in a better mood after such an outstanding weekend all around, but coming into work this morning and reading a few stories has really made me upset. For starters, this Kenny Rogers pine tar thing. The way the media is taking this and sensationalizing this entire thing is sickening. It’s a witch hunt. The media is creating stories once again and I hate it. It’s painfully obvious that something was there, the managers and umps and Kenny worked it out privately, and then he went out and threw 7 more shut out innings. If it was a bigger deal than that he would have been kicked out, or Tony La Russa would have made a scene. Trust me, he’s slightly anal about such things, even if his good buddy is across the way managing. This is the World Series remember. The stakes are high. The manager that wins this thing becomes elite by becoming only the second ever to win the World Series in both leagues (Sparky Anderson being the first).

Get on with it already!

Secondly, this Madonna adoption thing upsets me as well (I know, strange combo this morning). Seriously, are there no American babies that need adopting? Is it not sexy enough to look out your back door and help out? Would that not create enough media buzz to support your album?

OK. Enough venting. Time to make the most out of a very cold Monday morning. Hey look, Celeste brought muffins in. Yum!
