Opening Day 2007
Let the games begin!
The Tigers are having some trouble with this first game so far but, as they say, it’s a long season. I have no idea why I didn’t either take the day off and head up to Detroit, or at least take the day off and chill on the couch with a day chock-full of baseball.
Tonight will be nice as however with more baseball, a full hour of Bauer and some Gators chomping on Buckeyes for the second time this year!
This would probably be a good time to unveil the lineup of the Mulletastic Batboys.

Friday Five
Here are the five things that drove me mad last night.
1. Rodney throwing it to first like a girl
2. Granderson slipping on the wet grass
3. Monroe just missing an amazing catch
4. Zumaya throwing 6 straight balls
5. David Eckstein

Restoring the Roar
I’m sure by now you’ve heard Jeff Daniels’ song Lifelong Tiger Fan Blues, but I wonder if you knew he had to go back to the drawing board and re-record it now that they’re winning. I have to say, I really enjoy having Jeff Daniels just a few miles down the road. He’s great for Michigan. Extremely involved.
Anyway, you can listen to the song Here or watch the video over on Jason’s Blog. If you’re so inclined you can also purchase the song Here for only .99¢, with all proceeds going to support The Purple Rose Theater.

Relativity
We’re already three games into the World Series and I’ve seen a total of 12 innings. You would think I could have planned my schedule better or something. Anyway, another Tigers loss allows me to discuss a question I had leading up to the World Series. I remember back a month before the season ended people were asking if our season would be a disappointment if we didn’t make the playoffs. Considering that we were entering the season with the high hopes of becoming a .500 team. It was an interesting discussion on the constantly changing expectations.
With that said, considering where we started in Spring, what we’ve accomplished up to now, and what was expected in this World Series…is this season a disappointment if the Tigers lose the World Series?

Bad Mood
Sorry, I’m in a bad mood this morning. I should be in a better mood after such an outstanding weekend all around, but coming into work this morning and reading a few stories has really made me upset. For starters, this Kenny Rogers pine tar thing. The way the media is taking this and sensationalizing this entire thing is sickening. It’s a witch hunt. The media is creating stories once again and I hate it. It’s painfully obvious that something was there, the managers and umps and Kenny worked it out privately, and then he went out and threw 7 more shut out innings. If it was a bigger deal than that he would have been kicked out, or Tony La Russa would have made a scene. Trust me, he’s slightly anal about such things, even if his good buddy is across the way managing. This is the World Series remember. The stakes are high. The manager that wins this thing becomes elite by becoming only the second ever to win the World Series in both leagues (Sparky Anderson being the first).
Get on with it already!
Secondly, this Madonna adoption thing upsets me as well (I know, strange combo this morning). Seriously, are there no American babies that need adopting? Is it not sexy enough to look out your back door and help out? Would that not create enough media buzz to support your album?
OK. Enough venting. Time to make the most out of a very cold Monday morning. Hey look, Celeste brought muffins in. Yum!
