RSN Represent!
My sincere condolences to the Tribe and their fans. I really wasn’t rooting against you, but rather for the Red Sox. I appreciate the way you came on strong to end the season and grabbed what was yours. The way you told the Yankees to go home and cash another paycheck for doing nothing. And the way you kept coming at the Sox all series.
But the Boston Red Sox have turned a corner. They have entered a whole new arena. They are no longer the cursed Sox of old, they are now a legitimate baseball powerhouse for the foreseeable future. The Stankees have been abysmal, and it only looks to get worse from here.
So congratulations Boston, and watch out Colorado! It’s going to feel weird having 2 Red Sox championships that aren’t decades apart. Now if only we can get the Cubs to turn that corner…
Yankees Suck
Feeling pretty lousy this morning after another Cubs loss. I really wish their bats would heat up. They have to win 3 straight now, so the odds aren’t in our favor.
However, I discovered last night that I might possibly find more enjoyment watching anyone beat the Yankees than watching one of my own favorite teams win. Even the rival Indians. Let’s go tribe!
And Lily’s reaction after giving up a homer last night was priceless!
October Is Baseball
After an amazing 13 inning one-game playoff last night between the Rockies and Padres to see who the NL wild card winner was, the MLB postseason is finally upon us!
Two of our household favorites didn’t make the cut (Tigers, Mets), both after collapsing late in the season, but two other favorites safely navigated the regular season and won their divisions, keeping my ultimate World Series still in tact—Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago Cubs. But truthfully I’d be happy with anyone other than the Yankees. It all begins tomorrow.
Indians vs. Yankees (Thursday @ 6:30pm)
Red Sox vs. Angels (Wednesday @ 6:30pm)
Diamondback vs. Cubs (Wednesday @ 10:0pm)
Phillies vs. Rockies (Wednesday @ 3:00pm)
Let’s Go Cubs!!
Friday Five
Here are the five things that drove me mad last night.
1. Rodney throwing it to first like a girl
2. Granderson slipping on the wet grass
3. Monroe just missing an amazing catch
4. Zumaya throwing 6 straight balls
5. David Eckstein
Relativity
We’re already three games into the World Series and I’ve seen a total of 12 innings. You would think I could have planned my schedule better or something. Anyway, another Tigers loss allows me to discuss a question I had leading up to the World Series. I remember back a month before the season ended people were asking if our season would be a disappointment if we didn’t make the playoffs. Considering that we were entering the season with the high hopes of becoming a .500 team. It was an interesting discussion on the constantly changing expectations.
With that said, considering where we started in Spring, what we’ve accomplished up to now, and what was expected in this World Series…is this season a disappointment if the Tigers lose the World Series?
Bad Mood
Sorry, I’m in a bad mood this morning. I should be in a better mood after such an outstanding weekend all around, but coming into work this morning and reading a few stories has really made me upset. For starters, this Kenny Rogers pine tar thing. The way the media is taking this and sensationalizing this entire thing is sickening. It’s a witch hunt. The media is creating stories once again and I hate it. It’s painfully obvious that something was there, the managers and umps and Kenny worked it out privately, and then he went out and threw 7 more shut out innings. If it was a bigger deal than that he would have been kicked out, or Tony La Russa would have made a scene. Trust me, he’s slightly anal about such things, even if his good buddy is across the way managing. This is the World Series remember. The stakes are high. The manager that wins this thing becomes elite by becoming only the second ever to win the World Series in both leagues (Sparky Anderson being the first).
Get on with it already!
Secondly, this Madonna adoption thing upsets me as well (I know, strange combo this morning). Seriously, are there no American babies that need adopting? Is it not sexy enough to look out your back door and help out? Would that not create enough media buzz to support your album?
OK. Enough venting. Time to make the most out of a very cold Monday morning. Hey look, Celeste brought muffins in. Yum!
ALCS Game 4

Player of the Game: Magglio Ordonez
You saw the game. You knew he was overdue. It’s amazing how a different player comes through each night. Tonight our big bopper got it done. 2 for 4. 2 Homeruns. 2 Runs. 4 RBI’s. 1 clutch walkoff trip to the World Series. Go Tigers!
ALCS Game 3

Player of the Game: Kenny Rogers
7 1/3 Innings. 2 Hits. 0 Runs. 6 Strikeouts. That makes 15 scoreless innings in two postseason starts. When this guy is running out there as your third starter of a series, you gotta like your chances.
