The Nerve – Mute Math
Can you believe this world’s got the nerve to insist it won’t trade for a better one?
Can you believe this world’s yelling out in the dark it wants to be left alone?
Can you believe this world never would’a had a chance without us giving it blood?
Can you believe this world lacks the common courtesy to thank us all for the love?
SET IT ON FIRE!
Can you believe this world’s like a glassy eyed swimmer caught sippin’ another one?
Can you believe this world’s like a tyrant taking over anything that it wants?
Can you believe this world’s like a wounded martyr warrior when his commitment is gone?
Can you believe this world’s like a vagrant in the gutter talking nothing is wrong?
SET IT ON FIRE!
Can you believe this world’s just a double dealing joker gonna stick to his guns?
Can you believe this world’s just a television blaring a million devils at once?
Can you believe this world’s just a charmer in disguise with a lavender soul?
Can you believe this world’s just exactly as we built it burning out of control?
SET IT ON FIRE!

Here is the tracklist.

Mute Math News
It’s been awhile since I mentioned the boys from Mute Math here on this blog, but they have a new album due to drop sometime in September. Today we finally see some movement in that direction with the following video as Darren and Jordan load up the trailer to head out to the recording studio.
Earlier this week I was able to get my hands on a recording of Without It and Polite, two songs that they released with their Teleprompt version of their first album, but since the remastered Warner Brothers release have been rare tracks. However, there are signs it will be on their new studio album.
You can check it out on my Muxtape if you’re interested.

Break The Same
Break The Same — Mute Math
The crowds roll by
And I’m falling in
Everyone’s invicible
But its just pretendAnd we all freaked out
What a shame
When only tears
Know how
To remind us we all break the sameWe all break the same
And we all break the sameAnd everything we’ve built
Could be our demise
It’s the sticks and stones
That wear us down
That often save our livesThe different stars tonight
Will somehow fade the same
And all the tears we cry
Tell us we’re made the same
And when we fall aside
Let’s hope we fall in place
We built our different lives
But they all break the sameOh different worlds
And different hearts
And different souls
And different partsAnd we all
We all break the same

Northern Room

Made up of Andrew Jonathen (lead vocals, guitar, keyboard), Tony Olla (guitar, keyboards), Micah Olla (bass, keyboards), and Michael Morgan (drums), these Wisconsin natives jumped on the scene in 2006 with their Last Embrace EP, adding the Only Seconds EP the following year. Since then they have released their first full length album, Last Embrace: Deluxe Edition. The deluxe edition includes all ten songs from the two previous EP’s, Live acoustic versions of Last Embrace, A Witness, and We’re On Fire, as well as the previously unreleased, Home.
I first ran across Northern Room when they were mentioned in the same breath as Mute Math on another blog. While there are occasional hints of Mute Math in their music, I think a more accurate comparison would be with Switchfoot. More specifically, the lead singer can be mistaken for Jon Foreman quite easily.
It’s rare that I enjoy an album the first time through, but Last Embrace hooked me coming out of the box. We’re On Fire is an instant single, worthy of heavy radio play (download free here). From that hot opener you begin a journey back into a more melodious feel. But don’t let that fool you into thinking you’re going to be listening to Jack Johnson, these guys rock your face off with aggressive beats, ambience, and stellar vocals.
This is one of the easiest recommends I’ve ever had, especially if you’re a fan of Switchfoot and Mute Math. Honestly, do yourself a favor and go out and buy this album. If you’re lucky, go catch them in concert. I know I’ll be hitting them up the first time they hit my area!
On a side note, I have an opportunity to interview the band, so look for that in the near future. If you have any questions you want me to ask the boys leave them in the comments and I’ll see what I can do.

Live Mute Math Album
I just received some insider information confirming that Mute Math are working to release a new Live CD to accompany the Flesh and Bones Electric Fun DVD. My best guess is to look for that to drop soon, and act as a stop-gap while we anxiously await their second full length studio album slated to be released late September of 2008.
Here are the songs that are on the DVD, and should be on the Live album:
01. Collapse
02. Typical
03. Chaos
04. Plan B
05. Stare At The Sun
06. Obsolete
07. Control
08. Stall Out
09. Noticed
10. Break The Same
11. Reset
12. Fight (Un-released track played during the behind-the-scenes footage)
13. Reset (Acoustic-ish)
