So I asked my mom if she’d make me a batch of her special chicken salad sandwiches last week. She called me Monday and told me she bought some chicken and to stop by for dinner Tuesday night before my men’s group.
It was great as usual. Then she packed up a bunch of it for me to take home. Because I wasn’t going to be around a refrigeration device for a few hours, she bundled it up in an oversized cooler with a baggy full of ice.
Does my mom rock or what?

Don’t forget to appreciate your mom all year long and not just this Sunday!

In case anyone was wondering why I only had 4 recipes for my week of playing Chef Mud, it’s because on Tuesdays I lead an awesome men’s group. On those days I have one hour between the end of work and the time the group starts, so I always grab something on the run. Lately I’ve been getting lucky because both my mom and my brother have been inviting me over to their places for a free meal.
Yesterday when my mom invited me over for a big salad, all I could do was think about that Seinfeld episode. She sure didn’t disappoint.

How amazing this world would be had everyone been as blessed as I was in the mother department. I have been so showered in love and grace and understanding that sometimes it seems unreal.
There’s a old saying that behind every great man there is a great woman. That is no truer than in my house growing up. As great as my dad was, he’ll be the first to tell you that he couldn’t have done any of it had it not been for my mom. She’s more than amazing.
I know I can never repay her for all that she’s done for me, but the least I can do is live my life in such a way as to make her proud, and to show my son the same love and grace and understanding she has shown me.
There’s a special place in heaven for mothers like mine.
Woman, how divine your mission
Here upon our natal sod!
Keep, oh, keep the young heart open
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
— William Ross Wallace
I’ll always be a mama’s boy.
Happy birthday mom!
I love you!!
