It’s ironic that this story about the fall of the stereo system, in light of the new portable music age, came out today.
Saturday night my wife and I went out to dinner and drove around Ann Arbor a bit. I talked her into letting me listen to my Old School Mix CD since I had just found it in a stack of CD’s recently. Going Back to Cali (LL Cool J) started at one point, and I turned it up and told her that this was the song that hit the hardest back in the day. The one song I would go to to test the thump of a set of speakers. (I used to own a set that looked identical to the picture here).
About 45 seconds in, the mini-van demonstrated its potential (which wasn’t too bad) and I was taken back in time. My wife saw it in my eyes and said with a smile, “You’re going to buy a new stereo system now aren’t you?”
I love my wife.
