Live Blog: Colts vs. Saints

My fantasy team is drafted and Michigan’s season is blown, so I can now focus my attention to some professional football. The NFL season kicks off tonight with the defending Super Bowl champs, the Indianapolis Colts, taking on America’s newest darling, the New Orleans Saints.

This should be a great game to watch. Now that Michael Vick is taking a sabbatical, Reggie Bush is the current favorite to become the next Barry Sanders.

It all kicks off tonight at 8:30pm on NBC. Oh, and I will be Live Blogging this event so stay tuned to this post!!

…and for that? Ugh. Well, game over. Colts 41 – Saints 10. I called it. Really… don’t read below to confirm, just trust me.

This was fun. Thanks for riding along with me! See you next time.

11:34
I officially don’t like Brees now. A time out? Really?

11:30
Not that we didn’t know this already but, Game Over. Another Brees interception. This time for a TD the other way. I’m not sure what happened to Drew Brees over the off-season, but he was TERRIBLE. And Reggie Bush was very UN-electric.

11:22
I’ve grown tired of this game. The other game is over now. Louisville 58 – Middle Tennessee 42.

11:16
That was NOT a chest bump! More like a ham bump.

11:10
To show you where this game is right now, I just noticed that I stopped using PM in my timestamps around 10:26pm. Weird.

11:05
Holy crap!! (Sorry mom) That’s just not fair. Colts 34 – Saints 10.

11:03
Addai is about to get a ton of garbage yards. Unfortunately for New Orleans, this the point in the game where Peyton is at his best.

10:59
While we take our 156th commercial break I feel the need to verbalize a question going through my mind, “Is anyone other than Dave reading this right now?”

10:55
This Vinatieri guy the Colts picked up is alright. Colts 27 – Saints 10.

10:50
Drew Brees throws an interception. I was just about to comment how the end of the third quarter is coming at a bad time for the Saints now that they have some momentum.

Manning going for the juggler. End of 3rd. I’ll post the score after the break when the Colts score another touchdown.

10:43
Colston apparently wants to win. Sweet acrobatic catch over the middle.

10:38
Manning is spreading the love. Reggie Wayne makes an appearance… in the endzone. Colts 24 – Saints 10. Come on New Orleans, let’s get some offense going!

10:32
I’m feeling much better that I have Duece McAllister and not Reggie Bush at the moment. Although Reggie is bound to bust one here at any minute. Drew Brees currently has 57 passing yards. What is going on here?

10:26
Well, full disclosure, the guy in our Fantasy Football Leauge that owns Addai also owns Tomlinson. Who said second place was such a bad thing? Colts 17 – Saints 10.

10:23pm
Dallas Clark and Joseph Addai will be worn out before week 4. Here’s more on that technology I mentioned earlier. Can someone tell me how Marvin Harrison always ends up open like that?

10:18pm
Louisville 51 – Middle Tennessee 42. Beginning of 4th

10:11pm
Louisville 51 – Middle Tennessee 35. End of 3rd

10:10pm
Keith Olberman dancing for the PC police. What a dope. What a disappointment. Tiki backing down from an opportunity to slam his old team again, and Costas making a lame joke w/ the red phone. Why am I not watching that Lousiville game right now?

10:00pm
Halftime. Time to stretch, refill, or take a shower.

9:55pm
Thank you Saints Defense! Keep Peyton out of the endzone the rest of the night. That will be alright by me. Tie game. 10-10.

9:47pm
Drew Brees made a beautiful check-down, then Indy made a great defensive stop. Nice work here guys. By the way, I read that NBC is implementing some CSI type camera work to zoom in on goal line, out of bounds, and first down questions. I’ve yet to see it used, but I’m curious if this will be as ground breaking as the FOX first down line.

9:42pm
Pithy comments aside. This is a really good game!

9:36pm
Saints take the lead. Is Gwen Stefani not making music anymore?

9:27pm
Who’s Fred Polamalu? Come on John.

9:25pm
Did you know John Madden rides a bus to each game? NOOOOOOOOOOOO… that song again!!!

9:21pm
I’d like to take this time to express my distain for not only that “This is my country” song, but also for networks constantly going to a commercial after a score, then coming back for 13 seconds of a kickoff, then going to another 5 commercials. Seriously annoying. Both.

9:15pm
Two thoughts about the Michigan game: 1. Mike Hart hasn’t received enough love for his 188 yard / 3 TD game. 2. Appalachian State’s logo looks a whole lot like Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean.

9:11pm
More like UP-Chuck. Please don’t make me sit through any more of those commercials. One Quarter down. Man that was quick.

9:05pm
Did they elimate Reggie Bush from all kick-off returns? It makes sense from an investment standpoint, but man is he more entertaining that whoever’s doing it now.

9:00pm
OK. So it was Marvin Harrison. That’s enough now Peyton, I don’t need Jason getting a big head.

8:54pm
Another prediction… Colts score on this drive. Manning to Wayne. You heard it here first. By the way, this Madden/Michaels combo might still be better than the current MNF crew.

8:52pm
Dog. Duece looks really good. I forgot to throw out a prediction. Colts 27 – Saints 30.

8:46pm
“Put this in your telecast, turn it down!” –Tonia (The Wife)

8:40pm
Middle Tennessee 28 – Louisville 38. Dave is Live Blogging as well. What is this Madden08 thing I keep hearing about? That Bush/Manning skit was LAME! When is the kickoff again?

8:28pm
Crap! Did I miss it before it started?

8:23pm
Rich Eison. John Mellencamp. Faith Hill. My head is spinning a little bit here. I was a little worried that I’d lack sufficient material to blog about, but I’m finding this will be an exercise in restraint.

8:03pm
Kelly Clarkson… hmmm.. could have been worse.

8:01pm
A couple pre-game notes as I go through some system checks…

• This Louisville/Middle Tennessee Game on ESPN 2 is making it really hard to switch the channel. Man I love football!

Rick Ankiel is force. He hit another 2 homeruns today. Ankiel is batting .358 with nine homers and 29 RBIs in 23 games.

• I have Deuce McAllister on the bench tonight in favor of Frank Gore and Willie Parker. I hope I didn’t make a mistake.

• From what I can tell, I’m supposed to put the updates at the top of the previous one. It feels weird, but that’s how I’m going to do it.
