Authority — 107
Rank — 76,867

Those are my stats as of this morning. I don’t know why, but lately I’ve been keeping tabs on my Technorati profile.

From what I’m figuring, your authority comes from the number of sites linking to your blog. And the rank is your distance from Los the #1 blog (currently the The Huffington Post). I’ve had my rank as high as 60,000 in the last couple weeks. I’m interested in seeing if I can break the 50k mark (humble goals right?).

Are there any other ways to get your rank any higher?
Are you linking to The Mud Puppy?

Emphasis on Great

I’d like to officially welcome Neil Greathouse to the House of Mud.

He makes sweet posts like this.

And links to sweet blogs like this.

While you enjoy getting to know Neil, I leave you with some words of wisdom I picked up from The Bucket List last night… Never trust a fart.

Game On

Now that Worship City’s race to 10k is over, it’s time to officially launch my race to 50k. It is tentatively scheduled to happen next weekend while I’m in Austin, Texas, but I’d love for it to happen before I leave.

I like how Conner designed his contest, so I’ll mimic what he did. Here’s how you can get your name in the hat.

1 ENTRY for every relevant* comment made on a post beginning after this post. (This post is excluded from the game).

2 ENTRIES for every link on your site to The Mud Puppy.

5 ENTRIES for every post on your blog dedicated to The Mud Puppy that also links here. (It can’t be about this contest).

Other than the comments, I will be relying on you to tell me of your merits. Simply chronicle them in this post and I’ll take it from there. After we hit 50,000 hits, I’ll take all the entries and pull out a random winner. And what will the winner get?

A $25 Amazon.com Gift Certificate

Game On.

*Any questions that arise during the above contest will be resolved at the sole discretion of The Mud Puppy. Relevant comments do NOT include comments such as “LOL”. Links on your site can include links in posts, but only those posts made after the contest begins, and are limited to one per post. Talleys of everyones entries will be listed in the comments of this post.

Link Love

I’m always in search of the next Arms Wide Open blog. Not to replace the blogs I read, but to grow and spread the love. It’s amazing to see all the different people that are out there, with all their diverse ideas, experiences, and opinions. Here are a few that I’ve added to my Links page recently:

» Emprise34
» The Hosh
» Relevintage
» Boundless Line
» 38 Pitches
» Guitar Punk

If you have any suggestions of sweet blogs you think I should read please leave them in the comments. And as always, let me know if you link to me and I’ll show you some reciprocal link love!
