Does God want us to be dumb sheep?
Before you go dismissing this off the cuff, stick with me a bit. If you’ve been reading my blog since it’s inception, you’ll know that I’ve been in the process of transformation. Part of that transformation is a result of the many books I’ve plowed through. Great authors and theologians have all helped me frame my new metanarrative (new word, you like?). However, I’ve been finding that the more I read, the more advanced thought I experience, the more questions I have.
Now, I really don’t think this is a bad thing when put in proper context. My end goal is to get it as right as possible. But I just keep wondering if the mystery of God is supposed to be so cryptic. Littered throughout the Bible are analogies of us (Christ followers) being sheep. Sheep in the literal, dependent sense. And then there’s the story in the Garden of Eden where Satan tempts Eve with Knowledge. Why would that even be something God put as off-limits in the first place?
I don’t have any answers. Just more questions, or course. These are just some thoughts I’ve been having lately as I dive deeper into theology.
Anyone feel me?
(This is also why I want to read more novels.)
