Life to the Fullest

It’s hard not to think about life and death when you have friends that are going through some serious struggles. I am constantly reminded that life is short, and that I should make the most of every second I have. Below are a couple videos that are great reminders that life should be lived, and lived to the fullest.

Dr. Randy Pausch

Living life to the fullest includes laughter. Lots of laughter. I’ll leave you with a comedy sketch by Mike Birbiglia that made me laugh out loud recently.

Don’t Ever Give Up

Today on ESPN Radio they are doing their third annual Don’t Give Up ESPYs V Foundation Auction. The speech Jimmy V made at the first annual ESPY Awards conitues to be one of the most inspirational speeches I’ve ever heard.

Listen, watch, or read the speech on this post I did in 2005.

A Day To Remember

I’ve been sitting here for over 2 hours thinking about what to write about yesterday. I still don’t know how to portray my feelings on a blog. I guess all I can say is that I’m pretty stoked about where I worship on Sunday’s. Everyone with breath in their lungs could feel the spirit of God moving all around us.

Thank you Captured
Thank you Pastor (aka dad)…
Thank you Jesus

You truly inspired us all!

Chicago: A Designers Delight

Being a die hard Cubs fan, you might expect me to love Chicago. But I’m a midwest country boy at heart. I don’t dig the big city lights. I get a special kind of anxiety walking around, trying to avoid the street people that remind me that this world is full of darkness and pain and suffering.

But after being in the city for only a few hours, I’m reminded why Chicago is so much different than any other big city I’ve been to and why I’m in the business I’m in. It is so rich in design—a virtual designers paradise. Even the newspaper dispensers are designed well.

Jason and I walked a few miles to a restaurant tonight and I just soaked up the architecture and design around every corner. My only regret is not having a camera with me. I came here with the intentions of learning more about Flash to help me in my job, but I think I’m going to be more inspired by the visuals that will surround me during my stay.

Note 1: The picture above is the Cloud Gate sculpture at Millennium Park.

Note 2: My company supplied laptop did not come with Photoshop, so to size the above picture I downloaded a sweet (and FREE) Mac photo editing program called ImageWell.

The Fellowship of the Unashamed

I am part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made—I am a disciple of His. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, worldly-talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean in His presence, walk by patience, am uplifted by prayer and I labor with power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my Guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, hired away, turned back, diluted, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, pander at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won’t give up, shut up, let up, until I have preached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up and stayed up for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus, I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know and work till He stops me. And when He comes to claim His own, He’ll have no problems recognizing me. My banner will be clear!

It’s Wednesday!

Ran across this little nugget of inspiration last night…

Be on your guard;
Stand firm in the faith;
Be men of courage;
Be strong.
Do everything in love.

Pay It Forward

No doubt inspired from the movie Pay It Forward, Liberty Mutual has developed a wonderfully inspirational ad. Gets me everytime I watch it. (The song being played is Half Acre by Hem)
