I rather enjoyed doing quicker movie reviews last time. I’ll keep the longer write-ups going on the documentaries though.
Thank You For Smoking — Great fun. Better than expected actually. I loved the cast and the creative writing. It’s always good to remember that in every joke there’s a nugget of truth. And I think there’s more than a nugget in this one.
Dune — I decided to watch this with a buddy that swears by it. I’m not much into Sci-Fi although I love Star Wars and The Matrix. I can’t say I liked this movie. Perhaps it was the bomb in 84, but I struggled to stay awake.
Collateral — I really enjoyed this movie! Great dialogue and great acting. It was cool to watch the extras and see how they developed the characters. I really love the methods that great actors use to get into characters. Tom Cruise is a pro.
Because of Winn Dixie — This had two of my favorite people in it, Dave Matthews and Jeff Daniels (Michigan man). This is one of the best family movies I’ve seen in awhile. I recommend it to anyone of any age.
The Brothers Grimm — The best I can say about this was that it was ambitious. The acting wasn’t bad and the thought behind the story was clever. I just don’t think they fully delivered on what they were going for. A little better writing and this could have been sweet.
