I look forward to seeing how this one plays out. To be honest it seemed too “hollywood” to be true at the time. It still may be true, but what are they going to do, send a CSI team out to test the sock?
BALTIMORE — The story of Curt Schilling’s famous bloody sock from the 2004 playoffs is turning into a bloody mess after a prominent broadcaster claimed one of Schilling’s teammates acknowledged the blood wasn’t real.
In the bottom of the fifth Wednesday night, according to The Boston Globe, Orioles play-by-play man Gary Thorne said on the air that he had been told by Red Sox catcher Doug Mirabelli that the substance was paint, not blood.
