Thinking Blogger Award

My first award! I’ll do my best not to make this my new header, but Aaron has bestowed me the honor of the Thinking Blogger Award.

The way this works is that Aaron was tagged by someone else. Which means that I have to tag the 5 bloggers that make me think. And under Blog Etiquette Rule #24 they must in turn tag 5 bloggers that make them think. Just like Aaron I am torn by having a blogroll of people that make me think, and that I love and respect. So choosing is tough, but the people that make me think the most are usually people that don’t always think exactly like me.

1. Mark Elrod – Former college instructor of mine. He teaches International Relations at Harding University and I wish I had payed more attention when I was in his class. Thank God for the invention of blogs.

2. Greg Kendall-Ball – Currently the commissioner of my Fantasy Baseball league, but he also happens to be someone that stretches my thinking daily.

3. I Am Josh Brown – Recently been dabbling in the alternative lifestyles of organics and communal living.

4. Pastor Hawkins – This old man brings it every Sunday at NewSong and regularly on his blog. He also happens to be my dad.

5. Doug E. Pudge – His faith is an inspiration to many. His humor is known only to a few. :)

Big props goes to my new Worship Leader friends. You’ve revived my spirit in this here blogosphere. Ragamuffin Soul. Worship City. CEC Worship. The Man of Steel. TeleDan. Dude, just rock through my blogroll. It’s chock full of good stuff!

5 Things You Don’t Know About Me

I got tagged! My new blogging buddy, Aaron, tagged me with the subject “5 Things You Don’t Know About Me.” So here you go…Enjoy!

1. In my short 31 years I have lived in 4 states (South Dakota, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan), 2 countries (America, Germany), and have attended 11 different schools (college included).

2. I was baptized in 1988 at the Rosebud Church of Christ in Rosebud, Arkansas, but I can’t say that I’ve been truly relational with my Saviour until about 4 years ago. Thanks in no small part to a combination of a Pearl Jam message pit, Third Day, a former coworkers’ agnosticism, and a small men’s group called Construction Zone.

3. I am both a former Military Brat and a Preachers Kid. Do I ever love community!

4. I lettered in college (Harding University). They even gave me my very own leather lettermans jacket with my name stitched into the pocket. The sport, Intramural. I had to play every intramural sport the entire year—including special activities for those of us trying to get the jacket—and accumulate a certain amount of points. There are only a handful that get this every year. It’s one of my favorite accomplishments.

5. I’ve mentioned this before, but I used to be so into rap in middle school, that one day I wore a leather african medallion to school. I had a stereo system in my locker blaring De La Soul and M.C. Hammer, and my lifelong dream was to own a low rider with tinted windows and huge speakers. I’ve since moved on.

There you have it. This reminiscing will go a long way toward the new ‘About Me’ page I’m working on! Now I have to pass the torch to five more. I am tagging the following:
