Mama’s Boy

How amazing this world would be had everyone been as blessed as I was in the mother department. I have been so showered in love and grace and understanding that sometimes it seems unreal.

There’s a old saying that behind every great man there is a great woman. That is no truer than in my house growing up. As great as my dad was, he’ll be the first to tell you that he couldn’t have done any of it had it not been for my mom. She’s more than amazing.

I know I can never repay her for all that she’s done for me, but the least I can do is live my life in such a way as to make her proud, and to show my son the same love and grace and understanding she has shown me.

There’s a special place in heaven for mothers like mine.

Woman, how divine your mission
Here upon our natal sod!
Keep, oh, keep the young heart open
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
— William Ross Wallace

I’ll always be a mama’s boy.

Happy birthday mom!
I love you!!

Thirty

Guess who’s thirty.

It’s weird to think that we’ve been together nearly half my life, but now that my sweety is switching decades it really hits home. I just can’t imagine my life without her in it. You hear the phrase thrown around all the time, but I definitely married “up”.

Happy Birthday Tonia!! Here’s to 100 more!!

My New Ride

mybike.jpg

Celebrating another birthday today. This time it’s a physical birth, and a higher number (32). Saturday I took some birthday money, and some hard earned cash, and bought a mid-level hybrid bike to upgrade from the heap I had been riding.

The winner was the Schwinn 700C Trail Way Hybrid Bike. I bought it on sale at Target fully assembled for under $200. It has an aluminum frame, comes with 21 gears and has 28″ wheels.

The ride is incredibly smooth. I feel like I just traded in my old GEO Prism for a Buick.

My [Re]Birthday

19 years old and counting.

On this date in 1988, in this small church in Rosebud, Arkansas, I publicly demonstrated my commitment to God. As I’ve mentioned many times before, I haven’t always been perfect, but I am always pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

You with me?
