Dirty Dancing

Last night I continued my way through movies I haven’t yet seen. This time it was another 80′s classic, Dirty Dancing. (I’m starting to wonder if I’ve ever seen any 80′s movies other than Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Goonies.) Anyway, instead of a simple rental, Tonia and I headed out to Ann Arbors Top of the Park Festival last night with some of her co-workers. We got there about 9pm and the movie began at 10pm. It was pretty cool watching a movie outside on a huge blowup screen with a bunch of college kids making very witty comments about Johnny and Baby. The crowd was so into it. Singing along with the outstanding soundtrack, clapping like crazy at the one-liners. I’m not sure I would have enjoyed it as much had it not been under those circumstances. Truly a great time.

What made it even better was hanging out with Tonia and her friends on their turf. Building some relationships, and acting like we’re younger than we are. Pretending like we didn’t drive a mini-van up there and have to get up early for work the next day. Then driving home and listening to a great song really loud.
