Apparently they have come to the conclusion that alligators eat people. I’m not sure why this is a recent phenomenon. I guess we’ve have become so accustomed to watching Steve Irwin wrestle those crocs that we’ve come to see them as sweet little creatures. Perhaps they’re even seen as being treated unfairly.
However, they’re not.
The bodies of two women, both apparently killed by alligators, were found Sunday less than a week after a similar death in Florida, where there have been just 17 confirmed fatal attacks by the animals in the previous 58 years. Florida residents are warned not to swim in heavily vegetated areas, feed wildlife or walk pets near the water, especially between dusk and dawn, when alligators are more active, because, guess what, they eat people. Who’d a thunk it.
