Seeing The Truth

Last night on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition I got to know Patrick Henry Hughes and his dad. It’s an amazing story, and I want to be as grounded as Patrick. I want to be as selfless as his dad.

Turns out that Patrick will be coming to a church near me soon. I’m pretty sure I’m going to make all efforts to get down there and watch him play, and hear him speak (and hopefully meet a fellow blogger).

He’ll be at Cedar Creek in Perrysburg, Ohio on May 17 & 18.

Extreme Goodness

If you’ve followed this blog for any amount of time, you’d know that I don’t miss the television shows The Office and 24. However, I’d have to say the best show on television these days is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

I don’t even watch this show regularly—probably has to do with Sunday Night Football—but every single time I watch it I tear up a bit, and I am always inspired. It inspires me not only as a designer, but as a human. It always renews my faith in humanity as a whole. These people are out there getting it right. Every single week they are doing something for someone that can’t do it for themselves. And they put tremendous thought into the long term effects of their actions. I have no doubt that the majority of these recipients will not forget what they have received and will pay it forward.

So next time you’re near a television on a Sunday night around 8pm, turn your set to ABC and enjoy the best show on TV. You won’t be disappointed.
