The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Tonia and I both enjoyed watching all three Terminators for the first time in 2007. Soon after watching them I discovered that a new Terminator movie is in the works (sans Arnold). I also learned that there’s a new show on FOX beginning January 13 called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The series will focus on the character Sarah Connor, who is on the run with her son after Terminator 2: Judgment Day when Sarah, John, and the Terminator successfully destroy the T-1000 and the arm and computer chip from the first Terminator. Sarah and John then watch as the Terminator is lowered into a molten steel pit in an attempt to destroy all future technology that could be used to create Skynet. Sarah and John now find themselves alone in a very dangerous and complicated world. Fugitives from the law, they are confronted with the reality that still more enemies — from the future and the present — could attack at any moment.

To be honest, I wasn’t planning on getting into this series but, with Jack Bauer and 24 not beginning this month, I have an open slot on my Monday evenings. And this looks like it will fit the bill.

Mish-Mash

» I found a great video this morning of the unaired 1994 pilot of 24. Times sure have changed in the last 13 years. —Link

» Yesterday Jake started a great conversation about defining christian music, and its necessity (or lack thereof). —Link

» Another one bites the dust. Tecumseh Products Company announced recently that it will relocate its manufacturing facility out of Tecumseh, Michigan. 160 more Michigan workers will lose their jobs. —Link

» I watched VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs of the 80’s the other night. That was a blast. Not only did they count them down, but they played the videos as well as showed some clips of what the artists are up to now. Great show. —Link

Here’s the top 10 on their list:

1. Livin’ on a Prayer — Bon Jovi
2. Pour Some Sugar On Me — Def Leppard
3. Hungry Like The Wolf — Duran Duran

Tony’s not dead, NO, he is allliiiiiiive.
Tony’s not dead, NO, he is allliiiiiiive.

I’ll see him in my show,
I’ll see him right on FOX,
I’ll hear him talk to Jack, and I’ll hear him answer back,
I’ll feel him in the air
I’ll feel him everywhere
I’ll see him on January

No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No

Tony’s not dead

NO!

(24 Season 7 begins January 13, 2008 @ 8:00-10:00pm on FOX)

24: Season 6 (4:00-6:00am)

Worst. Ending. Ever.

This is what happens to good shows if they get complacent. This is why Seinfeld went out on top.

Take the season finale of The Office and put it next to the season finale of 24 and you have a stark contrast. I’m not sure 24 is even on the relevant radar anymore. I can’t even write anything else about it. I’m left wondering if I’ll watch it next year. They’ll have to do some creative off-season advertising and story-lining to get me interested.

It’s a sad sad day.

24: Season 6 (3:00-4:00am)

I’m very concerned for the future of 24. I’m beginning to get the same feelings I had a few years into Survivor and The Real World. Both were great and raw at the beginning, only to become ridiculous and lose the natural feel that made them what they were.

It’s clear to me now that the formula for 24 has turned into extreme intensity in the first 4 and the last 4 hours. The middle seems to be just story telling to get you between the two bookends of good action.

Regardless, I’ll be locked and loaded next Monday @ 8pm for the 2-hour finale. I’ve even heard rumors of a revived former character, once believed to be dead.

We also haven’t seen the last of Buchanan this season.

24: Season 6 (2:00-3:00am)

DOWN GOES MILO!

I guess that narrows Nadia’s options a bit. Doyle probably won’t have anything to do with her now.

I’m convinced now more than ever that the CTU office in L.A. is the easiest office to penetrate in the nation.

And I still hold to my prediction that Josh is Jack’s son.

24: Season 6 (1:00-2:00am)

I honestly didn’t know that Dr. Jack was that head over heels for Audrey. It seemed like just a few hours ago he was making wedding arrangements with his brothers wife.

Speaking of Dr. Jack, Heller dropped the bomb on him that we’ve all been saying in our heads for the last six seasons. It’s no wonder he’s been trying to get himself killed all day.

Nadia almost kissed Doyle. (You know, the guy that was choking her a couple hours ago).

When Daniels tells Lennox that they have a bigger problem, and then says, “I’ve been sleeping with her too,” I literally laughed out loud.

Great episode.

24: Season 6 (12:00-1:00am)

Less action and more love stories is the direction these days.

24: Season 6 (11:00pm-12:00am)

Now we’re talking…finally we get some Chloe! Jack must have her number one on his speed dial by now. I mean, if Jack and Chloe were running things, these seasons would be cut in half.

So, this VP thing. I noticed a ring on his finger when he mentioned spending more time with his secretary. Did I miss something earlier, or is this a not-so-subtle hint at an affair?

And I love seeing Jack showing some emotion. Better watch out Cheng, looks like Jack was taking names in prison.
