Movie Reviews

Malcolm X5/5 Loved It
Spike Lee is the man. Denzel is the man. This movie was worth the time investment required. I really loved seeing Malcolm’s growth progression. It’s a shame he was snuffed out before he was really able to flesh out his transformation.

Catch A Fire4/5 Really Liked It
Good movie that covers all the bases: Action, Drama, Compelling Story, Suspense, Romance, Historical Reference. Tim Robbins was alright, but I thought Derek Luke was outstanding.

Kung Fu Panda - 4/5 Really Liked It
Gotta say, this made me laugh quite a bit. One of the better Kung Fu movies I’ve seen recently. Not so secretly hoping Tanner gets this for Christmas.

The Edge3/5 Really Liked It
It was billed as “Jaws with Claws” and they nailed it. That crazy bear had it out for them. This is a perfect candidate for a Saturday afternoon TBS movie.

Pearl Harbor4/5 Really Liked It
Top Gun meets Titanic. I actually liked this movie though. It was a pretty nice little date movie for me and the mrs. Looking forward to getting some documentaries on the subject now.

Tropic Thunder4/5 Really Liked It
Could have been even better, but as it was I had a good time with it. I might be a little over generous with the 4 rating, but I remember laughing out loud many times. And those Tom Cruise dancing scenes were worth the price of admission.

Wanted4/5 Really Liked It
Office Space meets 300. I really didn’t expect to like this movie because others had said it wasn’t any good, but once I got into it I really had a good time. Yes, you have to suspend belief when watching, but I do that with most movies anyway.

Fred Claus3/5 Liked It
Half way through this movie I thought it was a pretty average Christmas flick, but the second half had a great moral that redeemed the movie for me. Lots of big names in this one too.

Kill Bill Vol. II5/5 Loved It
Wow. You really do have to see Volume II to get the full story don’t you? And I definitely liked this one better. Some amazing scenes and a really tight story. Well done Tarentino. Well done.

Training Day3/5 Liked It
I’m a little disappointed that this is the movie that finally won Denzel his much deserved Oscar. Malcolm X and Hurricane are just two that jump to mind that were far better performances. As for the movie itself, I liked it a lot, but it wasn’t unique enough a story to warrant a 4 rating.

I haven’t seen Kung Fu Panda yet. Really want to.

Training Day is one of my favorites (as is Hurricane), but I haven’t committed to Malcolm X yet. Denzel is probably in my top 3 favorite actors.

Have you seen the Bone Collector? or Fallen?

Wanted? Ok. Exploding rats scene was funny.

Pearl Harbor is a pretty good flick. I’m a sucker for historic period pieces.

The Edge was one of my favorites in college. Anthony Hopkins is the man.

Bone Collector was great, and I just put Fallen in my Que last week.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to be in the minority with Wanted.

Wanted was very good! It had never been done before action in my not so humble opinion. I also liked that they had a an average guy in the flick instead of a toothy, pretty boy. I can’t believe people didn’t like it…

What did you think about Robert D Jr’s performance in Tropic Thunder? I love him even more after seein this. So glad he got cleaned up, he is so talented.

Have you seen Taking Lives? If you like the Bone Collector, you would like this one.
