Summer Sabbatical

For a myriad of reasons I just decided (like five minutes ago) that I’m going to take a Summer sabbatical on this blog. I can’t guarantee that I won’t post sporadically in the next couple months should something strike a cord with me, and I’ll definitely be back on a regular schedule at the end of August, but for the next couple of months I’m not going to be concerned about posting on this blog.

Instead I’m going to take this time to streamline its focus, its design, and its writing. I’m also going to take some time to polish off some other things that really need my full attention.

I’ll still be responding to comments, and continue to read and interact with all 200+ subscriptions in my RSS.

I’ll also still be utilizing Twitter and Tumblr.

Hope you all have a great Summer!

**MID SUMMER SABBATICAL UPDATE**
You still out there?

I’m not sure I’ll ever bring the blog back in its current form. I’m afraid this platform is a dying breed. Sure there are a few must-read blogs out there who are bringing it daily, but I’ve felt a shift in my interest in the majority lately. It sort of feels like the same old thing over and over again. It’s almost predictable. And I don’t want to be a part of predictable. I want to be a part of the next best thing.

I am finding Twitter and Tumblr very useful, although I have no idea if anyone is reading either. You can subscribe to both earlier in this post. They are also both fed into the sidebar of this blog.

One thing I still do love about the blogosphere is the community. I feel that is one thing I cannot give up. I still love hearing your voices, and watching you grow. I am inspired daily.

So, carry on my wayward pilgrims. I am still trolling around the internet, keeping up to date with all of your happenings. I am looking forward to seeing what transpires from this sabbatical as much as you are.

I understand sabbaticals! I have practiced this a few times myself -time away from various people, places and things. The only regret I have with my breaks is not explaining myself and how I must have made people feel, but that’s really the only regret. Other than that, It’s a wonderful practice.

Have a fun summer!!

Man we should have coordinated this. Just as I’ve been absent and just now getting back into the swing of things you’re taking time off! Imagine the rumors: “Mudpuppy heads South for the Summer?!?!” “WorshipCity cuts bangs off and sports mullet!” “WorshipSteel…no…ManCity Episode 1″ “Blog fiasco unveiled as Mudpuppy and WorshipCity are 1 in the same! How did Jason not find out?!?! :)

Well I suppose this gives me the chance I need to catch up on all your activity I’ve missed out on! Enjoy the break man!

BOO!!

@Alastair Vance: I’m just getting the hang of it myself, but basically it’s a simple way to share pictures, videos, quotes, links, etc. without much, if any, commentary.

It’s a stop-gap between Twitter and a Blog.

@worshipcity: Jason is oblivious. :)

MUDPUPPY!!! Maybe after a couple of weeks you will rethink this rash decision. Just kidding. We miss your daily thoughts already.

Ahhhhh the blog sabbatical….

As you might remembered I recently returned from mine (although unannounced) and it was one of the best things I have done. It’s amazing how taking some time to take care of “other things” can bring clarity and inspiration back to the blog world.

This blog community is better with you in it. So, like others said, take the time you need, but don’t be gone too long.

You’ll be missed, but the reasoning is understood. Enjoy!

Wanted to comment on two must read books about God and Politics. Far to long Christians have been looking to politics and politicians to be the moral leaders of this country. Christians must realize you cannot legislate morality. Looking to politicians to cure the ills of this world is delusion. Many Christians are now leaning towards Libertarians, limited government etc. These books look like great reading.

  mudpuppy wrote @

@beartracks: That was my problem for most of my adult life. I (shamefully) allowed others to determine my moral compass (ie: whatever the Republicans said was important). We Christians are pretty bad for this, I’m not sure why to be honest. But it’s extremely encouraging to see people like Shane Claiborne making waves throughout the evangelical base.

Those books are definitely good reads.

An unfortunate turn of events. Just finished up a lot of work (at work) and was looking forward to reconnecting. I look forward to August.

I know sometimes I feel like I offer the same stuff over and over. I feel your pain.

Oh if we stop one by one the community is gone.
Keep it going. H
