Be Gone

Alomst three years ago to the day I wrote the following

Why are dress socks so unfunctional? Why are they so tall? Is there really any need to cover up the entire calf? Why don’t they make the elastic better? Am I the only one constanly pulling up these silly things all day? And what’s the deal with the really thin ones? The patterns? The ridges? Who in the world is out there coming up with these silly things? They’re ridiculous!

Today I said goodbye to dress socks for good.

No longer will I worry about matching my socks to my shoes and pants. No longer will I get home from work to find that my feet have turned blue from a lack of circulation (or from the die).

Dress socks be gone!

Over the past years it’s a struggle to wear dress socks..

Just don’t like them anymore :)

Flight of the Concords still wear business socks…
See “Business Time” on youtube.

Oh heck yes. Congratulations – you have joined the winning team.
By the way, I want to thank Mr. Seth Haines for mentioning Flight of the Concords. Hilarious.

How about the “Hiphopapatamus and the Ryhmenoserous”

“My rhymes are so potent that in this small segment…”

Classic line.

Good for you! My husband made that choice long ago and he’s been happy feet ever since

White socks and black pants are a cardinal sin aren’t they?

You and David Letterman.

[...] As a side note, Mud Puppy had a somewhat related post recently on saying goodbye to dress socks. I applaud his move to dress like David [...]

There is a middle-of-the-road option – casual socks. I buy my socks that are dark/tan/whatever and have full sports padding so they’re comfortable. Adidas makes some nice ones.
