Mute Math Worship CD?

Not technically, but I just discovered an album called Elevator Music where Paul Meany is leading worship at Victory Fellowship Church in Louisiana. Greg Hill and Darren King from Mute Math, along with others, also appear on this Live album which was released to bring in financial support for Katrina victims.

Here is the tracklist.

1. Joy (Shining Light)

2. My Glorious

3. King Of Glory

4. King Of Glory (interlude)
5. Fragrant Oil
6. Lily of the Valley
7. Awaken the Dawn
8. It Is You
9. Kiss the River

10. Love Song
11. Forty

12. Beautiful
13. Sweet Wind of Heaven

14. Make My Heart Your Home
15. Come To Me

It’s definitely one of those CD’s that make you wonder “What if?”

You can own your own copy here for only $13.00.

    dude.
    great find.
too bad its not on iTunes.

  2. phillip Says:

    Isn’t Paul Meany a self-proclaimed universalist?

  3. mudpuppy Says:

@evan: … and this goes for anyone else out there, if you’re interested in listening to it before you buy it just let me know.

@phillip: I believe you’re right. From what I’ve read Paul has become disenfranchised with his faith in the last few years. I don’t know why, but before Mute Math he was pretty heavily involved in his church and his “christian” band Earthsuit.

  4. Clayton Bell Says:

@phillip NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Mute Math songs don’t fit the Jesus per minute rule but are some of the most spiritual and true lyrics out there. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I’ve been rocking that CD for a while. King of Glory is the hotness on that album…

  5. phillip Says:

I agree with you about their lyrics, but I’ve read interviews with Meany where he has stated that he’s a universalist. It seems like he’s deliberately trying to distance himself from Christianity.

  6. mudpuppy Says:

@phillip: I’ve been noticing that about Paul as well. Actually, while trying to find more about this album I ran across one guy saying that Paul told him he didn’t want to be associated with the album because it’s not what Mute Math is all about.

I understand why he and the band didn’t want to be under the CCM umbrella, but I really don’t understand throwing his entire faith under the bus. I think there is much more going on here than meets the eye.

And for the record, I too agree that Mute Math lyrics are some of the most spiritual lyrics out there. Very U2esque in that regard.

  7. portorikan Says:

Yeah, I’m with you as well mudpup, about the faith under a bus thing, but sometimes the pains that others can cause might lead you to distance yourself from the label that group is associated with.

I don’t know him personally, but having chatted with him and listening in on convos at a few shows, it doesn’t seem necessarily like he’s driving a bus.

  8. T Says:

Great find! And, like others said, too bad it’s not on itunes.

  9. SG4JC Says:

  11. Chris Says:

    Wow - amazing. Great find!!

  12. maria Says:

just because Paul doesn’t want to be stuck in the box of being labelled a Christian doesn’t mean he isn’t one. this album is awesome.

  13. Elevator Music « The Original Mud Puppy Says:

[...] I mentioned this CD before but my official copy just came in the mail today. Elevator Music: Live Worship From Victory Fellowship is hands down the best worship album I own. [...]

  14. William Says:

This is an amazing worship CD…the gifts and callings of the Most High GOD are irrevocable (Romans 11:29)…I pray Paul comes in the fullness of his destiny that the Creator has for him, not that he has for himself…for everything aside from the perfect will of the Father for our lives is vanity.

  15. DJ BAM Says:

i can’t believe you guys barely found out about this album, I have a RAW recording of earthsuit playing at my church, the songs include covers such as lean on me, hendrix’s fire song and more… its also an awesome cd… does anybody know how to put them on?

  16. Geizi Says:

you’re my hero mudpup. now i have something to listen to while i wait for Mutemath’s new cd.

everybody…hold on…i don’t understand. Is he a brother in the faith or not? that is what is most important, his salvation. i know the singer from emery is a brother in arms but is not throwing it out there to gain the christian crowd. we have to be a light in the darkness.

mud pup give me some feed back

  17. mudpuppy Says:

@Geizi: I’d have to give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s certainly not chatty about the subject.

  18. jade Says:
