Unplugged

Tonia, Tanner and I are joining Joshua in this Unplugged Challenge.

So for seven days, beginning Monday, March 17 through Sunday, March 23 we will be unplugging while we are at home. No television. No movies. No email. No blogging. No twittering. No Facebook. No MySpace. No Flickr. No YouTube. No iPod. No internet. No computer. No video games. No texting. No phone calls.

Just the three of us doing life together.

I encourage you to join us. Obviously we all have responsibilities, be it work, school, whatever, that require you to use a phone and various forms of communication. This challenge applies to every thing OUTSIDE of your work/school day. This will look different for everyone. So you’re just going to have to be diligent on your own.

I think we’re really going to make a dent on our new basement project that week. Who knows, we may even learn something new about each other.

No can do, man. If anything, I need to be plugged in even more that week. Have fun with it, though.

yeah! the more the merrier… if it was easy, we’d do it all the time! the point isn’t for it to be during a “convenient” time for you…

  9. sughiya Says:

I am so happy to be here now thank you all

  10. Pete Says:

    what is the basement project?

  11. Pete Says:

dude we are just getting our cable and internet hooked up today at home.

Plus with as much time as to seem to spend on the internet at work I don’t see a big sacrafice. (said with poking fun tones).

Question: Will you be checking voice mails during the weekend?

  12. mudpuppy Says:

@Pete: We’re going to paint our basement, and fix some things like my work bench and the staircase. Long overdue.

The sacrifice isn’t meant so much to ween us off the the matrix, but to make an extra effort to engage face-to-face with each other, without any “middle man” such as a movie or computer.

As for the voicemails… I’m still trying to work out how we will handle being available for emergencies. I’m not too worried about it though.
