Predator Alert!

*UPDATE*
Further investigation by the Tecumseh Police Department reveals that this is not the man that approached Amy, but rather an eerily similar looking individual (who also happens to be from Michigan). We still believe that there is a weirdo among us, so please be vigilant with your families.

Boy Genius

I came home last night after another grueling day of sitting in front of my 23″ Apple Cinema Display to find that my boy genius (who is only three years old) is now riding a bike sans training wheels. Apparently my brother took the training wheels off on a whim yesterday to see how he would do, and Tanner jumped on like he’d done it before. He can start and stop like a pro, and hasn’t crashed yet.

That Tiger Woods / Elin Nordegren punk kid has some serious competition here for the greatest spawn of all time. Watch out world, Tanner is on two wheels now!

Video coming soon.

Transform My Summer

I’ve scrounged for these before… and I’m going to do it again.

Any of my readers who drink Pepsi, or Mountain Dew, or Siera Mist, and aren’t using the codes under the lid, please go ahead and do a brother a favor and pass them along to the ol’ Mud Puppy.

You can email me or, in the case of my boy Sammy, hand me a garbage bag full when I see you next.

Rosco’s Return

After a long vacation, Rosco enjoys the prospect of getting back to work. It was nice to have the time off, but putting in a good day’s work always gives him a sense of purpose and accomplishment. His only concern is that his coworkers will look at him with distain after he was granted a full month off, with pay, to deal with some personal issues. Surely, they would understand.

So Monday morning Rosco gets up early and eats a quick bowl of Cheerio’s, then hops on his bike for work. Feeling spry he decides to take a different way today. One he’s never taken before…

Link Dump

I’ve got an out of control bookmark file that I need to get rid of. Figured I’d put them all here, and let WordPress hold them for me. Hope you enjoy.

Ironpuppy 2008

Building on the momentum of my old man, I too have thrown my hat into the triathlon ring for next summer. I’ve been riding my bike pretty good this month, and with a little more focused training I think I do alright in this thing.

It’s not a full, or even a half triathlon, but rather what they call a Sprint or Mini triathlon. Here are the distances:

Swim — 1000 meters

Bike — 14 miles

Run — 4 miles

This is a Racing For Recovery event in Monroe, Michigan. The swimming section will be in Lake Erie, where they say the water will be 68-69°. I’m thinking about making this a yearly activity with the hopes of moving up to a half marathon after a few years.

Who’s with me?

Godfather + Ocean’s 13

I’m continuing to work my way through my ever growing list of movies I haven’t seen. This weekend I was able to get through two that were high on my list. Coincidentally, they both featured Al Pacino.

The Godfather (1972) — Doing the math, I’m 35 years behind the ball on watching this one, but thankfully I can now say that it is timeless. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was fun seeing some of the actors in their younger days. And it was fun watching the movie develop. I had originally thought about renting all three and watching them over the weekend, but with each being at least 3 hours, I had to pace myself. The only complaint I had was that the transition of Michael Corleone from apathetic to full out support was a tad sudden. I would have liked to have seen some internal struggle there. Regardless, I’ll be watching part two this week, and the box set is going in my Amazon.com Wishlist.

Ocean’s 13 (2007) — Big fan of the Ocean’s here. I even liked Ocean’s 12. The cast is so fun together, and the music is always great. I think the best part about 13 is that you can probably watch it a few times and still not catch all details on all the different scams they had going. It was a touch on the predictable side with Linus’s dad and the diamonds at the end, but still fun. Speaking of Linus, he probably stole the show. The Brody was killing me. (BTW, did you know that was a reference to actor Adrien Brody?) Speaking of trivia, Rusty’s ringtone is “Don’t You Want Me” by The Human League.

Now here is where the fun comes in. Remember, I had just seen The Godfather for the first time the day before. Well, sometime in the middle of Ocean’s 13 when Reuben wakes up and speaks to Danny and Rusty, he says “I hear cars coming and going, I hear Linus crying. I think you should tell me what everyone seems to know.”

That’s straight out of The Godfather! What are the odds?
