My buddy Blake Easter’s band, Renovaudio, is having a CD release party on October 21 @ 8pm at Ogden church in Adrian.
They are currently selling advanced tickets for $5 which includes a free CD at the door. Tickets at the door will cost $7 and will also include a free CD.
You can order your tickets at Ogden church and at the Sounds of Light bookstore in Adrian. They will also be available at the shows leading up to the party.
Maybe you haven’t noticed the simple sticker that rest on the back windshield of both of my vehicles, but I’m positive hundreds that have driven behind me have seen this very effective message. Love Wins. In any and all circumstances, Love Wins. The Bible is littered with examples and demands of love. It’s the key to everything.
Love Wins. Doesn’t it all boil down to that?
The stickers were inspired by a sermon by Rob Bell a few years ago about the cross and the ramifications of Jesus’ love. At the end of the sermon he passed out handfuls of stickers to everyone in the congregation. You can now not only see those stickers scattered all over Grand Rapids and Western Michigan, but they have been spotted all across America.
Can you imagine if everyone had those stickers on their cars? Can you imagine if we all lived as if that were true? I can tell you for certain that that sticker has already effected my driving. Knowing that phrase is sitting back there has directly influenced how I have reacted to some pesky drivers. Actually, I’m with Rob Bell, who says rather than need it on his own car, he needs it on the car in front of him, on the forehead of the people he’s talking to, in the mirror, etc.
Order some stickers for your own car. The first one is free, and if you send them a check for $1.00, they’ll send you a few more. Order Sticker Here »
If you have some time, listen to this very uplifting sermon that inspired the phrase. If you would like me to make you a CD version, let me know.
Sorry, my next post will be more serious, but I just had to get this out there ASAP! It’s the latest and greatest by Weird Al. Anyone else feel as though they might be too white and nerdy?
Well, the annual Talk Like A Pirate Day is finally upon us. Every year it seems like it takes longer and longer to get here. For those of you that might have lost their pirate tongue, here is a little refresher course on how to speak pirate…
No doubt inspired from the movie Pay It Forward, Liberty Mutual has developed a wonderfully inspirational ad. Gets me everytime I watch it. (The song being played is Half Acre by Hem)
If the Gospel of Jesus Christ is just some formula I obey in order to get taken off the naughty list and put on a nice list, then it doesn’t meet the deep need of the human condition, it doesn’t interact with the great desire of my soul, and it has nothing to do with the hidden (or rather, obvious) language we are all speaking. But if it is more, if it is a story about humanity falling away from the community that named it, and an attempt to bring humanity back to that community, and if it is more than a series of ideas, but rather speaks directly into this basic human need we are feeling, then the gospel of Jesus is the most relevant message in the history of mankind.
Driving in to work this morning I realized that if we had a Hardee’s in Tecumseh or Clinton, I would be both broke and overweight. It seems like almost every morning I dream of their biscuits and gravy. I never eat breakfast because I sleep until the last possible second, so the drive to work always involves fantasies of food.
If you’ve never had the biscuits and gravy at Hardees I would definitely recommend it. Looks like they have a new Jalapeño Burger out too (FYI, the nearest Hardee’s is in Genoa, OH).
